Cathex

Cathex is an interactive VR experience that operates at the intersection of embodied perception and computational poetics. Conceived as a spatial, affective environment, the work invites participants to navigate a subconscious terrain where gesture becomes a generative force and perception is continuously reconfigured. Drawing from artistic research, the experience mobilizes the body as both interface and site of meaning, dissolving the boundary between observer and system. Through a synthesis of symbolic form, responsive sound, and immersive spatial design, Cathex constructs a sensorial feedback loop in which inner states are externalized and re-inscribed into the virtual, opening pathways toward catharsis. Influenced by feminist philosophy and contemporary discourses on consciousness, the project positions VR not as a tool for simulation, but as a medium for introspection and transformation.

Sine Özbilge | BE

Sine Özbilge is a Belgium-based multidisciplinary artist and XR practitioner working across moving image, immersive media, and spatial narrative. Her practice unfolds at the intersection of artistic research and emergent technologies, engaging with cyberfeminist discourse, the subconscious, and post-net aesthetics. Through a synthesis of animation, live-action, and interactive systems, she composes affective environments that interrogate perception, embodiment, and the entanglement of human and computational agency. Özbilge lectures at LUCA School of Arts. Her work has been presented internationally at venues including Berlinale, Ars Electronica, SXSW, SIGGRAPH, and the Sharjah Art Foundation. Her recent immersive work Cathex, supported by the Flemish Audiovisual Fund, extends her exploration of embodied virtual experience.
