We live in an era where information is produced and circulated at an unprecedented scale. To navigate this “information overload,” humanity has become increasingly reliant on AI—specifically text summarization—to filter and digest content. As Marshall McLuhan famously stated, “The medium is the message.” Today, AI has become the new medium through which we perceive the world.

In Abstract.exe, the viewer begins as a single tree within a complex, lush virtual forest. Over time, these organic visual elements are algorithmically simplified and distilled, eventually translating all existence into uniform abstract symbols. This transformation serves as a metaphor for our reliance on AI filtering mechanisms. As the process of perceiving “this” into “that” becomes singular and automated, the work reveals how individual diversity gradually converges toward homogenization at the technological frontier.
