ORIGAMI WORKSHOP
This hands-on origami workshop introduces participants to the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, promoting mindfulness, creativity, and patience. Led by an expert instructor, attendees learn step-by-step techniques to create various paper models-ranging from classic cranes to butterflies, while exploring the history and cultural significance of each design. The goal is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. This workshop is ideal for anyone interested in exploring a new hobby, finding a calm creative outlet, or celebrating Japanese culture. All materials will be provided by the organizers.

Alexandra Papailia | GR
Alexandra Papailia was born in Athens in 1984. She is a structural engineer specialized in earthquake engineering. Her main pursuit is origami art. It all started in 2020 during the second quarantine in Greece due to corona virus pandemia. She began to learn the rules of folding by reading books and in website. Since then, she has folded hundreds of origamis, sized from 4mm to 70cm. She began by folding traditional Japanese designs however the designs of modern artists are definitely more challenging. She loves to use Japanese paper, often handmade and hand-printed. Preferable paper is Chiyogami, meaning “paper of a thousand generations”. She admires the Japanese civilization and she has traveled to Tokyo and Yokohama. Her creations include sculptures, jewelry and lamps. She is an active artist, exhibiting her work in galleries and festivals and taking part in workshops. She has given interviews to Love Yourself Magazine and to Kathimerini newspaper. Her new goal about the origami is to study origami engineering.
