The Edge of the World

The Edge of the World explores the hidden peripheries of Cyberpunk 2077, pushing against spatial boundaries to uncover the rough, unfinished edges of the game world. These marginal spaces reveal how supposedly open worlds are engineered, optimised and constrained for seamless consumption: built to feel boundless while carefully policing their own limits. By documenting what the system refuses to render, the project exposes the representational logics and infrastructure beneath the illusion. These edges, both frustrating and unexpectedly revealing, come to seem less like the ends of the world than the limits of the known world.

Natalie Maximova | UK

Natalie Maximova is a London-based interdisciplinary artist and researcher working with machinima, game engines and post-photographic methods. Her practice examines how simulated worlds produce and break meaning – focusing on glitches, edges and out-of-bounds geographies where representation fractures and design logic becomes visible. Her work exposes the politics of mediation that shape perception in the post-digital era.
She has presented projects internationally at institutions and festivals including Somerset House (UK), Milan Machinima Festival (VRAL), Image Forum Festival (Japan), Ujazdowski Castle – Centre for Contemporary Art (Poland), Rijksmuseum Twenthe (Netherlands), Kühlhaus Berlin (Germany) and Film Studies Center (USA), among others.
